I hope the anti Bush crowd is happy with what they got. Bush did not buy into Gorebal warming either.

Hiram--you forget, it's all Bush's fault anyway--I am sure he planted Van Jones and Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers in the path of Obama.

All I can say is that people are very gullible! Al Gore comes up with an idea that the sky is falling in because our temperatures are going up. First, as we have seen by the revelation of the recent e-mails, the data is FAR from proved. The original data from which this theory was taken has been dumped. Not very scientific! People with opposing views were not able to get their articles published. And Second, when the Soviet Union collapsed many of their scientific recording stations, which were located in the coldest parts of the world, were abandoned and the data from there was NOT entered into the mix. The science is very flawed, to say the least. Yet people have bought into this idea that it's true and that it is the fault of human beings. I'll tell you one thing that is true. This whole hoax has made a BILLIONAIRE out of Al Gore. You've got to give him credit. He came up with a very successful con game. However, all of this doesn't mean we shouldn't go about finding ways to have clean energy and treat the earth kindly. It's just that the way we are going about it is STUPID. We're going to buy in to shooting ourselves in the foot in order to IMMEDIATELY go green. Really, really DUMB!

I think we should take care of our planet, but Gore did get rich and it's not even true for the most part. And yes Larry all this will be probably be blamed on Bush.

The global warming hoax reminds me of the swine flu pandemic scare. I'm not saying the flu isn't real, but when everyone was talking about it on every newscast and people were waiting in 3 hour lines to get the vacine, I thought it was hype and a scare tactic. For what purpose, I do not know, but I chose not to buy into the hype and scare. Do you remember? You couldn't turn a channel without hearing what state or campus had n1h1 patients. I was told by someone in the medical field that every person with flu symptoms was told it was swine flu, that they weren't even testing for it anymore. When is the last time anyone heard anything? Like I said, I'm not saying the flu isn't real, but it was hyped up and had people scared to death. Now that it hasn't turned into a pandemic, they will say it's because they did such a good job of getting the word out.

Very true, Dawn. All it takes these days is a little publicity and everyone starts running around doing the Chicken Little thing. Swine flu, bird flu, mad cow, SARS, global whatever, rising water, falling water, CO2, plastic poisoning, killer sweeteners, the Mayan calendar, Y2K, electromagnetic radiation from cell phones, power wires and electric blankets, asteroid coming (the only real threat in the whole lot), you name it and we panic.

I ran across these precautions this morning while cleaning out my files. Thought I would post them.
Swine Flu Precautions
1. Frequent hand-washing.
2. "Hands-off-the-face."
3. Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don't trust salt). H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/ nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Simple gargling prevents proliferation. In a way, gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected one. Don't underestimate this simple, inexpensive and powerful preventative method.
4. Clean your nostrils at least once every day with warm salt water. Not everybody may be good at Jala Neti or Sutra Neti (very good Yoga asanas to clean nasal cavities), but blowing the nose hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population.
5. Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamin C.
6. Drink as much of warm liquids (tea, coffee, etc) as you can. Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm.

All common sense, inexpensive things to do. And yes, there was a pandemic of H1N1 flu. The only thing was, it wasn't as dangerous a flu as the CDC had expected it to be....thank goodness! Still, people did die from it. But then they die from the regular flu too. And it was too much hype. Getting the immunization, when you could, certainly was a wise thing to do. But acting like chicken little doesn't help a thing. All it does is get your blood pressure up. Bad for us old folks!
