It's not always necessary to travel long distances to see interesting sights; we often drive right past them every day without notice. Take the county courthouse square in Pell City, AL for instance. www.stclaircountyal.com/drivingdixie/dd_052.html

Drive by during court session and it's a parking lot full of illegally parked vehicles. And if you see a handicapped person in a handicapped parking spot then get a picture of it, it's something rare.

Enjoyed the article Jerry. Knew about everything except the plaques in front of the stores. Will have to take note of that next time I'm in town. BTW, it would be interesting to know how many people like the courthouse better since it's renovation as opposed to those who liked the 1950's style.

Thanks, Chris. The 50's style was tacky but also kinda homey-feeling. They sure used up a lot of green lawn to build the addition and parking lot.

My thoughts too Jerry. But as P.C. has grown since I came here 23 years ago I guess they needed to expand. Personally I like the courthouse in Ashville better.
