Want to hear something kinda scary? I just looked down the hill at my neighbor's house. For the first time since they moved in, there's not a single light on anywhere; no porch light, no dusk-til-dawn booger light, nothing. The house is totally dark. But then I guess that's appropriate, as there isn't a living soul in that house now. At least not since this morning. While I was off having coffee with a bunch of old farts as usual that time of day, my neighbor Johnny Smith was very quietly dying of the same loathsome disease that took his wife a couple of years ago. I first heard of it when my cell rang at Winn Dixie. Got home in time to see the rental truck removing his hospital bed. Damn, I'm going to miss that poor old guy. s235.photobucket.com/albums/ee10/jerrysmithstclair/Z%20Avatar/?action=view¤t=scan0001-1.jpg

I guess the lights are out in more ways than one. Poor guy, he looked liked a nice ole feller.

He was one of the best. The world has lost an irreplaceable asset.

I'm sorry Jerry for your loss of a good neighbor. My H/C guy passed away two weeks ago from Crohn's disease. He told me one time that it would get him but I just dismissed it because he was so healthy looking. He had done work for me back in the summer and had fixed Darryl's heat unit in September. Always on time, reasonable rates and easy to befriend. He was a great guitar player and we eventually discovered each others love for the instrument. We played together only once. He had a style akin to Chet Atkins and Les Paul which clashed with my bluegrass flat pickin. But we jammed for a couple hours anyway. Tommy, you might have known him...he played VFW's and parties etc..His name was Stanley Thompson from Gadsden. Here today..gone tomorrow.

Jerry, I hate to hear that too. Too many people are passing away. Belinda's father passed away a couple of weeks ago. He was 87 and in fairly good health until the past year. We saw him on a Sunday and he was sitting in his chair in the living room and looked as though he was just giving up. The next morning he passed away in the hospital. It's been really a sad time because he was a wonderful man. Tommy
