I like the Coast Guard's response to the bad guys much better. Seems as if the drug runners in their "go fast" boats were having the engines shot down by the C.G. choppers, there by leaving them dead in the water and an easy pick up by the C.G. boats. The "brilliant" cartel members got the idea that since the C.G. rarely shot a person, they would have one or two of their guys sit on the huge outboard engines and that would stop the shooting of the engines. WRONG! Nothing makes a snipers day like a challenge. Engines have been shot between the legs of the people sitting on them. One guy had the engine finished off by a bullet that went between the Coke can and his mouth as he lifted the soda for a drink. One drug runner was killed when the engine exploded and killed him. Nothing like an HH65 for a platform and a young Coastie with a sniper's rifle.

If they're on a cartel boat trying to escape arrest, they're guilty. Just shoot the bastards.

Jerry, there has been a "gentleman's agreement" so to speak between the guys in the fast boats and the C.G. Although both come armed they realized that a shooting war didn't benefit either side. It didn't make either side the winner and only caused dead bodies. The rule was that if the Coasties could catch the go faster boats the cartels chalked up the lost drugs and boats as the price of doing business. The Coasties felt that getting the drugs and boats was enough of a win as most of the guys manning the boats were forced to do so by the drug kings. Sort of a; take this $5000.00 to run the drugs to the U.S. or say good bye to your family. Not really much of a choice. But all of that ended when the captain of a go faster boat deliberately ran over the bow of a Coast Guard 25 footer killing a coastie in the process. They were caught and of course will be tried for murder. But as my son says, their families are already dead and they will probably be killed in prison. The cartel bosses don't like their people killing Coast Guard folks. But as of now both sides will be ready to pull guns and start shooting.
Just a little aside. My son said that when it came time for one of their C-130's to do a fly over at the killed Chief's funeral the weather wasn't cooperating. It was absolutely zero zero at the air station and Christopher was within 2 minutes of canceling the flight. Just as he was about to tell the guys in the C130 to return to the ramp and shut down, the ceiling lifted to around 10,000 ft in just minutes. The A/C took off and they were no sooner out of the traffic patter when it went back down to zero zero. Since the fly over was down south they had CAVU over the funeral. Almost as if the Almighty wanted the Chief to have his honors.
