In the wake of Connecticut and other recent events, there will surely be talk of gun control. What are your thoughts on this issue?

according to the Constitution and the Dick act of 1902, the President cannot ban the right to bear arms....no gun control whatsoever. And this law cannot be repealed. Of course, the president thinks the constitution doesn't apply to him. In Sweden, everyone, of age, is required to own a gun. Sweden has the lowest gun crimes in the world. here it is: groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups=#!topic/total_truth_sciences/2FClWgHHmtw

Kennesaw, Ga is the same way, Tommy; in response to the stupidity of the gun ban in Morton Grove, IL, Kennesaw passed a law that every household must have a gun and ammo. Surprise, surprise---the crime rate dropped drastically there, too.

I think the gunman who thought he was going to shoot up St. Vincent's hospital in BHM learned about guns. Although he did wound 3 people (including one of the police officers) he was quickly killed. You can't completely stop the nut jobs out there. But having a gun helps limit their damage. It is amazing to me that people think taking guns away from law abiding people is also going to take the guns away from the law less people. It's been shown time and time again that it doesn't work that way. When the good guys turn in their guns then only the bad guys have them. AND THIS IS A GOOD THING? ? But then it's mostly the Left that is all for strict gun control. And they have shown that their logic boards are all screwed up!

I think everyone who is in favor of banning guns should be required to have a sign in their front yard stating that theirs is a gun-free house. If no guns is a good and proper thing, then why hide it?

Exactly. And if they won't post it their neighbors should.

I mentioned this to a gun friend yesterday. He said he was thinking of posting one of those signs in his own yard, then letting them find out the hard way that he was lying when they break in.

One of the things that scares me most is that the liberal idiots who will be enacting gun legislation often don't know a dang thing about guns or gun usage, except that they make it hard for a career thief to earn a living, which affects a lot of their constituents.

You don't see them wanting to ban cars that drunken drivers use to kill people with. Why? Then need their cars!

Whether we have the fortitude to admit it or not, there is only one solution to all these killings; more normal people must take the responsibility of arming themselves with legally concealed handguns, and be willing to step up to the plate when one of these crazies begins to make trouble. Nobody in his/er right mind would go out into the jungles of South America or Africa without a gun. The danger here in urban America is just as cold and unreasoning as a lion or hyena in the jungle. We would not think twice about defending ourselves from them, so what's the basic difference? The fact that they're human beings is illogical, as they are no longer behaving like humans but are actually crazed, rabid animals, and must be treated as such.
Everyone who advocates taking guns away from decent people shares the blame for the deaths of those children.

But try to get them to see that Jerry. They are of the mind that the government should take care of EVERYTHING. If someone is shooting at them the police should take care of it. Unfortunately, police aren't instant as much as most of them would like to help you. Until they arrive you'd better have a plan. Otherwise people are going to be mouring you. (maybe)

I've read that the average response time for police is 20 minutes, while the average response time for a .38 bullet is about 2 milliseconds.

it's better to have a gun in your hand than a cop on the phone.

it's better to have a gun in your hand than a cop on the phone. Not so, Tommy; if there is a cop on the line, just hand the phone to the bad guy and he will tell him to back off in the name of the law. All criminals respect the law. Problem solved. :-)
