suddenly I don't seem to be in Spencer Bachus's district. I tried to email him but my zip code, according to him is not in district 6. But yet when I check the districts...St. Clair county IS in district 6. Very strange. so I got pissed and requested a meeting....that went through. I doubt very seriously if I'll be granted a meeting but maybe I'll get a point across to him. I wrote a very long description of why I wanted this meeting. Obama is not eligible and I want to know why Spencer isn't doing anything about it.

Good for you Tommy. If you get a meeting, I'd like to go along to voice my opinion too! One of my pet peeves is politicians who won't take e-mails from anyone outside their district or state. As much as I dislike "dirty Harry", he will take anyone's e-mail. Of course I don't get an answer from the e-mails that I send to him suggesting that he should take his retirement pay (which as a tax payer I help fund) and go back to Utah.

Aw c'mon; do ya'll really believe that any of these people who represent millions of Alabamians and hundreds of millions of Americans have time to answer every grousing email that comes their way? Nor does their staff. Think about it. How long does it take you to bang out an email? So much for sincerity. Letters take much longer, but surely they get thousands of those every day, too.
Sending emails to congressmen reminds me of what some of our local officials do when there is no workable solution but they have to do something anyway; they hold a public prayer vigil, usually at night with candles so it looks really sincere on TV. Presto! There's a serious problem and they have done their part.

WE are their employers. They had better take our e-mails or they may not be employed next time around. My rule of thumb is that any politician who won't accept my e-mail because I don't vote in their district, they go into the bad guy file in my mind. If you think that's no big deal well.....you're entitled to your opinion.

my ex partner and me once met with one of our representatives at my partner's request...so I know it's possible. However, I doubt very seriously if Spencer Bachus will take my request seriously...which is to his own peril. People are resigning from the RNC in bunches and signing up as Independents. If he still refuses to do anything about OBama I will do everything in my power to be a thorn in his side for the rest of his term.

I am entirely with you on that Tommy. He thinks he owns his job and will just keep getting elected no matter what comes. People are getting fed up with politicians. And with the realization that even "low information voters" will experience, when they look at their payroll deductions, even MORE people are going to be saying, WHAT ARE THOSE IDIOTS DOING TO US? And those in Washington D.C. who won't even talk to people are going to pay the price of being unemployed.
