Obama, at great cost to the U.S. tax payers thought it necessary to fly out to J.B.'s home territory to pitch his version of immigration reform. Perhaps J.B. can shed some light on this. In a time when the whole country is really short on money our president decides that he has to fly all the way across the U.S. to give a speech.
Now this isn't a CEO who climbs into his private jet, makes an arrangement for a limo service to pick him up at McCarran Intl. and take him to a hotel. Oh no! This is more on the logistic side of a small invasion. Not only does Air Force One go, various cargo planes with limos and perhaps a chopper go too. That isn't counting the press corps, food, and secret service people. Once they are on the ground a secure parking place for everything has to be found. And, of course, the secret service has to send an advance party out to make sure everything is secure for his royal pain in the tush. This whole thing must cost us a fortune. Of course, Obama is used to spending fortunes.
What I want to know is why he couldn't stay in D.C. and perhaps pick out a service club meeting (Lion's, Kiwanis, etc.....I think the Odd Fellows would be perfect myself) and go to that to give his speech. It would sure save a bunch of money.
But then, perhaps people in D.C. are getting tired of seeing him and he couldn't gin up any enthusiasm there. I know I wouldn't cross the street to see him.
