well finally...my medicare started this month. I visited my new personal physician (I've never had one of those). He says I'm too fat and need to lose a few pounds. Go figure. He also said that he wished all of his patients were as healthy. I have two problems that need to be addressed but he seemed as though they weren't as important to him as they are to me...LOL Neither one is anything serious...just uncomfortable. He sat up appointments with doctors in those fields...oh well, what's another month or two. I feel like I've been running a marathon and I've finally got to the finish line and now I find they've moved the finished line a block down the street. He said I'm low in vitamin D and that my thyroid gland isn't producing as well as it should. I have no idea about these things but Belinda does and she's been learning me (schooling) about them. Thanks Christine for advising me about Blue Cross Advantage.

Tommy, you're entirely welcome. All of the different Advantage programs by different insurance companies are helpful in navigating the Medicare maze that the government has thrown us in to. But the problem is that "OUR" government is trying to make these programs unprofitable so that the insurance companies will give them up and we'll all have to go to a single payer system. Why people, who should know better, are so intent on pushing this is unknown to me. What they get out of it is unclear. And it certainly isn't to benefit the country or it's citizens. When one has friends in Canada, and the U.K....as many of us do, we can see by their experiences that the government run health care system is lousy. The only thing I can think of is that the government is taking over yet another aspect of America's money making system. If we look at GM we can see that when government gets in to overseeing and controlling things, they go downhill very fast. How many people want to buy a Volt? Yet the government keeps saying it's the car of the future and will save the planet. Any thinking person can see that isn't true. While we have to have some laws to keep greedy people from poluting the planet in their effort to make a buck, we also have to have smaller, more responsive to the people, government. Our Founding Fathers were smart men, and they would hate what this present government of ours has become. BTW Tommy, good luck getting your problems fixed. Not to discourage you but, it seems as we age we just become a maintance problem to ourselves. ;D
