The Boy Scouts of America currently do not allow homosexuals to join the organization. I believe that they are right to do so. Being an active homosexual is a choice. I don't say that being attracted to someone of the same sex is a choice. But I do say doing anything about it is a choice. Since heterosexuals often push the boundaries of proper sexual behavior why do we think homosexuals will be any different? Young boys should not have to deal with that sort of thing before they are old enough to make an informed decision. We jail adults who prey on young people. That is because we consider it a disgusting crime. Why would we just let another group of people who wish to push their agenda (even if they don't openly "attack" the young) have access to, and be members of the BSA?

By definition, Boy Scouts is for boys who wish to learn & practice scout stuff. What about being gay disqualifies them? But hell no on openly gay scoutmasters.

Jer, I understand where you are coming from. Nothing to do with Boy Scouts, but this happened many years ago. I went on a road trip to Southern California when I worked at an industrial plant back in the 70s. There were four of us. One guy was married. There was one guy in the group that 'acted gay'. He ended up being my room mate. Nothing happened in our room!
My buddy talked to me a week or two later or so about that trip. I FOUND OUT that these three guys were having sex with each other in the room next door. SAY WHAT??? The married guy and the other guy seemed VERY heterosexual to me. I WAS SHOCKED!!! My buddy asked the 'gay guy' if I was involved in that he was telling him the story. And thank god he said no!! My buddy was going to disown me and I understood. Here I was 'guilty by association'!! I was LIVID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And this set the tone for me being more anti-gay from that point on.

I don't think young boys really know what being gay is all about. When they hit puberty they start thinking along the lines of sex and who they are attracted to. Since boys leave scouting at 18 or so I don't think there really is a problem with gay scouts so much as there would be with gay leaders. Scouting shouldn't be about sexual attraction. It should be about learning things (many are useful in later life) learning to work well with others, and learning to be honorable young men.
