Took this to the Thanksgiving dinner and everyone loved it.
Take one glass bowl so you can see all of the colors
2 packages of Jello that require 4 cups of water. The big pks.
I used orange and lime
Gather the things you'd like to have in the salad.
I used canned mandarin oranges, mashed up pecans, and canned pineapple chunks
Make Jello according to directions. Use two bowls and put in frig to get thick but not hard When Jello is thick enough to add solids, pour all but a cup of the first flavor into the pretty glass bowl. I used the orange and the oranges. Then take the reserved cup (in this case the orange) and put it into a blender and whirl away until it's frothy. Pour on top of the first Jello. Put back into the frig for a few minutes to let it set up a bit. Then take the second flavor (lime) reserve a cup, and in the original bowl add what you wish (I used mashed up pecans) Mix and pour into the serving dish. Beat the reserved cup of Jello until it's frothy and pour on top. Back into the frig until it's set firm. I then drained a small can of pineapple chunks and arranged them on top. (remember to drain anything that comes in a liquid before adding to Jello. Canned fruit is better than fresh as some fresh fruit will keep the jello from setting)
Use any dressing you wish. I mixed plain yogurt with Miracle Whip and chopped green onions. Makes a good dip for potato chips too. Just thicken it up a bit.
The presentation will be beautiful and it's enough for a large crowd. Inexpensive.
