I think I mentioned some of this back on the other board, but got an update today.
One of my best friends is married to a lady from Scotland. Her family is still there and her sister is married to a gentleman named Duncan, affectionately called Dunk. They come over here at least a couple of times a year and Dunk is a great big bear of a man. He is a Master Pipefitter by trade, which translates to being a plumber here but hard as heck to get that Master by your name over there. Dunk and his wife are a hoot to be around.
At least a year ago he started having massive and crippling headaches. He went to the doctors, got looked at and sent home over and over with pills and whatever. Didn't justify more testing. It took about nine months of being basically incapacitated before he could be scheduled for a MRI or Cat Scan (I can't remember which it was now). The scan showed a tumor on his pituitary gland. It took a couple more months to get a surgery scheduled and a few weeks to get the results.
I talked to my friend today and they just got the results back. The tumor was cancer and has spread to his lungs and other parts of his body. They are giving him months at most, and of course their medical system is now saying it is so far gone there is no need for treatment.
We also have some elderly friends from Canada who tell horror stories although they haven't had any major issues yet and they are able to afford to come to the US to get treatment when they need it.
This is what they want us to have here. This is the system they want to model our health care on. THEY won't have this system but we will. THEY will be able to get any treatment they need.
My 90 year old father just had a life threatening scare just a month ago and had to be rushed from St Vincent Pell City to St Vincent B'ham to save his life. In this brave new world they would have just let him die.
Folks, they want to change our way of life as we know it, and not for the better.
