TIME MACHINE: WEEKENDS AT HOME

Here's the latest Time Machine for those who are not currently on my blog mailgroup:

If any one concept could describe weekend life in the Fifties, it might be Lack of Structure. Our folks knew the wisdom of not straining one's brain and body seven days a week and, regardless of belief, most people knew that a day of rest was good for you.

Ah yes, leisure. It was wonderful to be completely free to do nothing, and not feel guilty about it.

Thanks, Chrissy. It was a great life for sure, although I doubt many of us fully realized it at the time. Still a wonderful place to retreat sometimes instead of watching TV news.
