Trick question by Jerry Smith in one of his Time Machines. We are now homeschooling our 16 year old as well as our 12 year old. We are exploring the whole world, via TIME MACHINE. The only downside to this is that I told them they could choose a record to listen to. I am being tortured with Michael Jackson as I write.

Ok...I'm going to do this mathmatically right here as I post.... 45 rpm...that means it rotates at 45 rotations per minute.
most older songs were about 2 1/2 minutes long. So what if I multiply 2.5 x 45 that would equal 112.5 rotations or grooves.
but then again there are two sides to a 45 so I would double the 112.5 to 225 rotations or groves.
But then again....there is only one grove per side... making only two groves on a 45. Tommy

lol--you read Time Machine, huh? It's been fun, and the kids are not only learning about the past, but about their PawPaw. I've learned a few things, as well. Just don't tell Jerry!

Daughter, I am very pleased that you are using my work in this manner. It's really gratifying to see all that historical stuff being put to good use.
If anyone else out there is home-schooling, please feel free to use Time Machine, Driving Dixie and Phunky Physics in any way you see fit. The Driving Dixie series has a host of short, educational field trips; in fact, several of them were from class excursions we made with my grandkids.

Yeah, David keeps asking me if PawPaw is gonna come "teach school" like he used to and take him on field trips. He mentions it often. I know you have been there before but maybe one day you and Gloria can come down and we can go to the Westerfield-Warner Museum. I may have the name wrong, but it's Jack Warner's collection. We used to be able to visit it after hours at the plant but they moved it to it's own separate place on Rice Mine Road years back. I haven't made it over there yet. The last time I went was when when David was in a stroller, so obviously the two younger boys don't remember anything about it.

Here's a Driving Dixie about that place: www.stclaircountyal.com/drivingdixie/dd_033.htmlI'm using the golf course scene as background on my monitor. It's actually on the grounds of North River Yacht Club. You turn off Rice Mine onto Old Watermelon Road, then into the Club after you pass Lake Tuscaloosa. A bit expensive, but worth it.
