Hey Tommy,
I just came to the site here and I got a virus on my computer when I accessed stclairproboards. I was already logged in from earlier today but as soon as I clicked on the home button above it took me to a totally different website than this. As soon as that happened my anti virus software came up and said I was infected with a trojan virus. Luckily it did clean it off my computer and gave me the following message: Summary Trojan:HTML/FakeXPA is a component of the Win32/FakeXPA family - a group of programs that claims to scan for malware and displays fake warnings of “malicious programs and viruses”. They then inform the user that they need to pay money to register the software in order to remove these non-existent threats. This trojan may also display a dialog that mimics the Windows Security Center.
Have you or anyone else had this problem since the new board was created? Just was wondering...

I had a similar thing happen but I'm not sure if it originated here or somewhere else. I will contact proboards to see what's going on. Thanks for letting me know. Tommy

I sent a message to Proboards but I also got this link from Cnet. Seems like this problem is pretty wide spread and there's no telling where it could have originated from. forums.cnet.com/5208-6132_102-0.html?messageID=3181851&tag=nl.e497#3181851I know we are very careful here with updated spyware and firewalls. We also don't open emails unless we know the person real well. Tommy

just by coincidence I got one that popped up as soon I signed on this morning. I pressed CTRL ALT & Delete all at the same time and clicked on task manager and deleted the program...end task now. It worked. I've seen this type of ad before several months ago and no matter what button you push it continues on acting like it's scanning your computer for viruses. Several times I've had to completely shut down the computer. Tommy

I'd love to be on a jury when they catch somebody who creates crap like that. Either he or the jury would be hung.

IMO, someone convicted of releasing a virus should be executed. The damage that is done to thousands of computers, the identities that are stolen and the cost associated with malware is nothing short of armed robery..... on a much grander scale. We need to have a safe haven to do our online business / pleasure without someone screwing with us. As Jerry says, Nuke the ........
