I am not ashamed to say I am a Star Trek fan! One of my birthday gifts was the new Star Trek movie, which is a prequil to the original series. Of course I saw it in the theater when it first came out, but we watched it again tonight. I was again thrilled and surprised by how wonderful of a job that they did chosing and putting together the characters. It was amazing! Mason (my 16 year old) said that I made the same comments in the same places that I did at the theater, which I found to be amusing. You would have to be familiar with the original seriers to really appreciate this movie, but I highly recommend it to any fan. Jerry, I'll loan it to you if you want to see it. Marlin said you all used to watch it when he was little.

Dawn, I went with Cleve and Brandon to see that movie. It was a bit heavy on computerized effects, but the story was well-written and cast.
Yep; we watched Star Trek and MASH religiously, over and over again. Marlin missed most of the late-night MASH shows because he was younger and had to be in bed at that time, but Cleve and I must have watched at least two hundred of them, usually laying on our backs on the floor with couch pillows under our heads. It's the hardest I've ever seen Cleve laugh.

JB we have a lot of trekkie stuff, too. The Starship Enterprise, trading cards, action figures of various sizes and makes and about two shelves full of videos. We have all of the movies, about 1/3 of the entire TNG series and about 10 of the original. Jerry, I didnt realize you all had gone to see it. It was really good, I thought it was worth seeing again. I figured stuff out that I couldn't keep up with the first time around.

Daddy and I used to watch Star Trek all the time!! Of course back then those "special effects" were totally awesome. ;D
I've seen all the movies that have been made up to this new one. I'll have to get it soon. Matt thinks I'm completely nuts because I still love to watch the older series just to see how cheezy they were.

When Star Trek was in its original run, most people thought it was hokey, and it actually was. After it went into syndication, though, we learned what a hidden treasure it really was. I know most of the scripts by heart.
