All I can say is: WOW!!!! I really thought Florida was going to win the game. I was talking to my jock son before the game started and he said a lot of people are favoring Alabama. WELL, they were right!!!! Alabama did one helluva job on both sides of the ball!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!

I suppose I can pull for Alabama in the championship game although it goes against the grain since I am an Auburn fan. ;D

I'll be pulling for Alabama too as an Auburn fan because I'm also an SEC fan. I noticed early in the game against Florida that Alabama was using virtually the same plays Auburn used against Alabama....later on even the announcers started mentioning the same thing. I think that speaks well of coach Chizik and the new Auburn offense. WAR EAGLE

Well, we were pretty excited. It's been a long time since Alabama's beat anybody like that and since Florida was so smacked down every which way but loose.
Texas is a very good team. I hope we don't get carried away with big expectations.
I will be pulling for Auburn in their bowl game. They are invited to a really good one, right? I do think Coach Chizik is a very good guy (of course, the quiet types are looking even better next to Kiffin), and he looks to be a great coach too.
BTW, did anybody see the former pro basketball ref on Sixty Minutes last night?

Well Gloria, as a lifelong Alabama fan I am certainly glad Alabama won the Iron Bowl. I was scared spitless, but after my heart rate went down and the dust settled, I was proud of how Auburn played. That is the way the Iron Bowl should be played. The outcome should be decided by guts and heart and Auburn had no shortage of either that day. As far as Tebow, I have to believe he is personally what he seems to be as a Christian and fine example off the field, but comes off as arrogant and sometimes classless on the field. I think someone who is that talented who performs with a quiet dignity is a much better role model. The only difference in how he acts on the field and the old Miami teams acted is that he puts a Bible verse on his face.

BTW, did anybody see the former pro basketball ref on Sixty Minutes last night? I missed it Sara--I did hear the teasers, where he was saying he had been threatened by the mob--what did you think of his story?

RE: Outback Bowl. Gloria, I think any bowl on New Year's Day is considered very good. Way to go Auburn. About the ref: It was quite enlightening. He bet on basketball games, even ones he was going to officiate. But he said he didn't ever make a call that was meant to influence the game. He said he could figure pretty accurately who would win, because he knew about the relationships between other officials and individual players, coaches or management. If a player or coach had made the referees angry, they would be targeted for unfair calls or lack of calls in their favor. The odd thing is, I believed him. And, apparently, the federal prosecutors believed him. It seems my innocent faith in the innate honor and fairness of sports umpires and referees at all levels once again takes a big hit. ca.sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=cbc-sports_basketball_sp_donaghy_intvu-2000337969&prov=cbc&type=lgns

Sara--it's a sad tale to be sure, the implosion of a career and family due to adverse behavior (see Woods, Tiger.)
This brings to memory the saga of Pete Rose, who says he bet on baseball, and bet on his own team, but never made a decision based on his bet. I never could by that--did he leave a pitcher in a little longer than he otherwise would have, to the detriment of the team two months down the road?
Once your faith is gone concerning the integrity of the person, sports or not, its almost impossible to get back.

RE: Outback Bowl. Gloria, I think any bowl on New Year's Day is considered very good. Way to go Auburn. So do I Sara, I think we can look forward to good things from Auburn in the future. They have had a couple of bad seasons, but appear to be working out of the slump.
